Canon has announced the EOS C300 Mark II Cinema EOS camera, updating its predecessor with a new 8.85 megapixel 35mm sensor allowing 4K shooting. Also new are Dual DIGIC DV5 processors bringing the ability to record 10-bit 4:2:2 4K (UHD or DCI) video internally using the new XF-AVC Codec. Citing customer feedback as a driving force, Canon also claims improvements in dynamic range, operability and ruggedness. The slight resolution boost of the C300 II over its predecessor means it can shoot DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) and the more powerful processing can be recorded as 2x over-sampled 12-bit 4:4:4 DCI 2K and Full HD video.
The EOS C300 Mark II will be available in September for $20,000 in either EF or PL mount.
